Gospels for Connect09
I just made the order for our Connect09 materials: 6300 gospels of Luke in English, 400 gospels of Luke in Arabic and 2000 gospels of John in simplified Chinese. The big challenge now is to share these with people in a meaningful way!

Create Conference Looks good
The Create Conference is happening in November and it looks great. I'm not able to make it but if you are able to go I'd be really keen to hear what you learnt. Check it out at www.createconference.org.au.

SPLASH starts on Friday
Women to lead churches?
The Synod was asked to consider a motion asking the Archbishop to explore ways of churches being allowed to have women ministers leading their churches if they wanted them to. It was not a motion arguing from the Bible, it just acknowledged the difference of opinion and asked for freedom to act accordingly. Who likes being stopped from doing what they want to do?
What struck me was what this motion showed. You see in our country you have complete freedom to start up a church anytime you want to and for them to have any practice you want to. What I realised was that more than wanting women to lead churches, the movers of this motion want the approval of the structures of our Diocese in doing it. Freedom wasn't the issue but our approval was.
Check out the news about the debate here.
