SPLASH trip to the Homebush Aquatic Centre

Our kids club is going to the Homebush Aquatic Centre tonight. All the info is here. The idea is that families come with their kids, but the SPLASH leaders will be able to take responsibility for some children. To do this a permission form is here.

thoughts on the new logo

We've been working hard on creating a new church logo, and it's been great to get different peoples responses about it.

One designer we talked to liked the design and described it as "very professional". They liked the choice of orange as being "fresh and engaging" and the design expressing an "active existence". I was concerned that the design did not incorporate traditional Christian symbolism but it will mean that we can have fresh conversations with people about the gospel and the significance of what we are on about as a church.

The impression from young people (18-30) has been very positive and I'm hoping the logo will work well in our area where this is by far and away the age group of the greatest number of newcomers to our area.

We also spoke to people from mainland China about the similarities with the 'yin yang' symbol. Even though there are similarities the connections were not made with the 'yin yang' and there was no concern expressed that we might be miscommunicating by using this logo.

AGM this Monday

On Monday night (16th March) at 8pm in the upper meeting room we will be having our Annual General Meeting of Parishioners (people who have attended church for 3 months of the last 12 and who join the congregation in the Lord's Supper). At the meeting we will
• have reports from the wardens and myself (it will be worth coming for this alone)
• receive our financial statements for last calendar year
• elect 2 wardens
• appoint an auditor
• determine if people are to be elected to parish council besides the wardens and minister (0, 3, 6 or 9 additional people)
• elect any people required to Parish Council
• elect nominators (invovled in choosing a new Senior Minister
• elect Synod Representatives (2)
• receive any recommendations for our church life together.

Farewell to Peter Rush this Sunday

Peter Rush is moving to Maroubra and we will be farewelling him at church this Sunday. Peter has been a great servant for the gospel of Jesus and I'm particularly going to miss his presence on Parish Council and at Music Time. Our prayer is that he would quickly fit into his new community and is able to find a church where he can grow as a Christian and help others grow also. Chris.

Safe Ministry Training

There are two big Safe Ministry Training days coming up on Saturday 14th March and Saturday 21st March. There are a number of other training opportunities as well. For full details download the information poster.

Really we want to have someone in our church who is trained to train others. For more information about this training check out hte Youthworks site here.

Bruce and Marsha returning to Australia

At the end of the year our missionary family, the Blackbells, will be returning to Australia and visiting us at church. At this stage the idea is for them to visit on the 13th Dec. Bruce passes on his love and appreciation to our church and just how much they are looking forward to seeing us. They a very grateful for our prayers and financial support.

They have been in Lima for two years now and it will be great for a number of us at church to meet them for the first time. Chris.
