Urban Mission Team?

Just thinking it would be cool to have a group of us from church go on mission together somewhere - maybe somewhere urban and multi-ethnic. Any thoughts about the idea? Something a bit like a beach mission team.

Back in the church building

We will be back in the church building this week. I will explain why during our meeting.

Connect09 Prayer Day

On Sunday we will be praying for our local community that they might hear the gospel message and welcome it.

We will be joining hundreds of other churches who are doing the same thing as part of Connect09!

Church in the Hall - an exercise in flexibility

On Sunday we all found out what the surprise at church would be - we met in the hall! The surprise will not be long lived since it is only a temporary thing. The idea is to be in the hall for another three weeks as a training exercise. The two main goals are:
  1. being able to do new things together as a church
  2. seeing our church building with new eyes when we go back

I know that there might be lots of positives and negatives about being in the hall, this is really just secondary to the two things above. What did you think of it?

LPG cylinders need filling

I was just wondering if there was someone who could help out by getting a couple of LPG cylinders filled ready for the BBQ and gas heater. I can fix you up with the money to get it done. Thanks!

Commissioning Service for Ans

On Sunday afternoon (25 May) there will be a commissioning service for Ans as she heads back to South Africa as one of our link missionaries. There will be a gang of us heading down to St Peters Campbelltown for the 2pm service. After church on Sunday we will work out any transport arrangements that need to be made.

Wanted: computers

At the moment our office has two computers:

1. A Dell Dimension 8200, Pentium 4 - 2.8GHz, 384 MB RAM running Windows XP Professional and:

2. A Windows machine running at 450 Mhz with 255MB RAM.

We are looking to update these with newer machines. Let me know if you have something that might be suitable. NB We also run Mac based things as well, so anything along those lines are also welcome.

Saying 'no' to a gift

Our local Council has pointed us to some of the local clubs to obtain grants for community projects. I have written the letter on the right outlining why we have said 'no' to such grants.

Christianity goes Public

Christianity has always been a public faith. It is open for people to investigate and seeks to critique and challenge the world around us. A new group called The Centre of Public Christianity headed up by John Dickson and Greg Clark is seeking to "promote the public understanding of the Christian faith in Australia and beyond employing the best of scholarship via the best of media.". The Prime Minister has welcomed the step and sees the days of shutting out religious debate in the public arena are over. View the letter from Kevin Rudd here.

Dinner in the Park

In might be getting dark but we are going to get together for dinner in the park before SPLASH starts. Darrell Jackson gardens from 5:30-6:30pm - bring you own everything (my family will be having take away).
