Threats to motherhood

On Sunday I preached mentioning threats to motherhood. The observations I made about our culture were:
  • children - just hard work
  • men - many find commitment hard
  • wealth - kids a threat to this
  • work - hard to juggle things
Just wondering if this was real or am I imagining things? Any thoughts from your experience? I wasn't trying to deal with situations where people wanted children and were unable to.

It's interesting, Helen Fielding (the author of the hugely successful books/movies Bridget Jones' diary) recently spoke at Oxford University and claimed that girls "can't have it all".

She said that many young women today struggle with the expectation that they should have successful careers as well as raising a family, leaving them 'confused'.
